History

GLOBAL ELECTRIC GEWA was founded in July 2005 with the association of two Buying Groups, ORPISSA SL (Spain) and CODIME Spa (Italy).

Each Group had more than 20 years of experience in their national markets. Well established communications and common views of the European Market together with important synergies allowed common trade development.

GEWA established its European Head Office in Barcelona (Spain).

The electric wholesale sector is moving year on year towards an oligopoly, in which only the big players can truly compete in the market. GEWA therefore represents a great opportunity for independent wholesalers to face both the present and future and compete on a more equal basis.

Through strong cooperation, shared effort, exchange of knowledge and information, GEWA is extending its presence across Europe each year. Groups ofIndependent Wholesalers see GEWA as the chance to reach a European representation, without losing focus on their local operations.

GEWA offers an opportunity for its members to improve their competitiveness in the European Market. GEWA is not just another European Group of Wholesalers, GEWA is a young and new concept of Wholesalers' Net, that offers the suppliers the perfect balance between European and Local work.

GEWA's intention is not to create an homogeneous culture for the whole group but to respect and keep the differences and special features of each partner and to learn from the exchange of these differences.

This cohesion and understanding is the solid basis with which we approach suppliers and multinationals.

CODIME

ORPISSA

Over the last few years, CODIME has achieved what no other group in Italy has ever done. It is a dynamic and resourceful association which has gained considerable credibility and influence on the Italian market.

With a sell-out of 520 million euros in 2005, it is the fourth most important buying association and represents 12% of Italy's wholesale turnover.

CODIME's aim is to optimize and strengthen relations with suppliers.

The group guarantees profitable partnerships by organizing ongoing promotions and targeted campaigns in every outlet throughout national territory. It plans promotional activities and advertises products that boost competition on the market.

This is why it has created the brand Cogel (CODIME General Electric Label).

Orpissa is a professional benchmark for the Spanish electric wholesale trade, with a sell-out of 300 million euros in 2005. It can improve alliances between electric wholesalers and leading suppliers by finding new opportunities for improvement in an increasingly global market.

"Orpissa wishes to be known as the top wholesaler group that guarantees a profitable and invaluable alliance with key players on the market".

Traditional values have kept this association close and cohesive over time. "We believe in people, mutual respect, excellence and responsibility".

These are the values that Orpissa wants to celebrate on its 20th anniversary in 2006.

It has a network of associates that dominate local markets, in that they represent a large slice of global sales with relatively few partners.
